More, 17 Syrian Protesters Shot Dead
The demonstrators from the area of Sheikh Maskeen, southern Syria, towards the City Daraa to support the demonstration subvert President Bashar al-Assad who is also president of the children previously, 25 March 2011.
Damascus - Syria again in turmoil. Murder re-occurred on Friday (03/25/2011), of more than 17 demonstrators who moved into the City Daraa, a tribal town located 100 kilometers to the Syrian capital, Damascus.
"Some 17 protesters were killed in shootings in the Village Sanamen as they move toward Daraa," said activist anonymity. The report could not be confirmed by independent sources or hospitals in the area.
Activist based in Daraa, said security forces on Friday also shot protesters who gathered near the house of the governor, who was fired earlier this week.
Activists have accused security forces of killing more than 100 people on Wednesday in Daraa, the region has a population of about 75,000 people.
On Friday, reporters were asked to leave Daraa near the Syrian-Jordanian border, shortly after the funeral of two victims were killed by army firing.
AFP reporters saw a number of military troops stationed in the streets that led Daraa when the journalists were escorted out of the city.
Syria in this month felt a wave of protest that has never happened before. The protesters demanded major reforms in the Baath Party-ruled country for almost 50 years.
Pro-democracy activists in several Arab countries, including Syria, inspired by the uprising in Tunisia and Egypt. Action succeeded in overthrowing the government which has ruled for decades.
